Company background
Guardian Industries was founded in 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, and grew over the following decades into one of the world's largest flat-glass manufacturers. Unlike producers that sell raw float glass to independent fabricators, Guardian built out manufacturing, coating, and fabrication capacity in-house, a structure the company still operates under today as Guardian Glass.
In 2017, Koch Industries, the large, privately held US conglomerate, acquired Guardian Industries in full. Guardian Glass now operates as part of Koch's diversified portfolio, alongside Koch's other industrial and materials businesses.
Numbers like "SNX 62/27" describe performance, the first number is roughly the visible light transmittance, the second the SHGC, both times 100. Higher VLT with lower SHGC is generally the more selective, daylight-friendly combination.
